This all-stock transaction marks a significant consolidation in the sector. Consequently, Capital One shareholders will own 60% of the merged entity. On the other hand, Discover shareholders will hold the remaining 40%. The acquisition should be finalised between late 2024 and early 2025. This move signals confidence in the long-term value creation through strategic mergers.
